WWE's Dave Bautista to Play Drax the Destroyer in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

By AMC March 15, 2013

Ever since Chris Pratt was announced to star as Star-Lord in James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy", we've wondered what actors would fill the other key members of the squad. It was rumored that Jason Momoa from HBO's "Game of Thrones" was in talks to join as Drax the Destroyer, but that he was demanding too much money. The hunt for a Drax is now over as that role has been filled with former WWE star and current MMA fighter, Dave Bautista.

In the comics, Drax was originally a human named Arthur Douglas, who was killed along with the rest of his family during an attack by the villain Thanos. Arthur's spirit was then brought back to life and put in a powerful alien body, when Kranos needed a warrior to fight against the Mad Titan.

On the acting front, Bautista recently was seen in RZA’s "The Man with the Iron Fists" and will also be starring in the new "Riddick" film with Vin Diesel.
