Halle Berry May Return as Storm in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is becoming rather stacked in terms of its mutants. In recent months, we learned that in addition to "X-Men: First Class" returnees, Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Older Professor X) and Ian McKellen (Older Magneto) would be joining the roster. Now it looks like Halle Berry, who portrayed Storm in the earlier renditions, may also be back.

A few months ago when Singer was asked if Berry would be returning, he stated, "I can't say. I don't know yet. And it's not necessarily a deal making aspect at all. I want to make sure it'll make sense. But I love working with her."

In a recent interview with Berry, Shadown and Act reported the following:

"She did confirm to me that she would be returning in the role. Most likely. Practically 90% sure. And she nodded a lot too. I can't say, and neither could she say that it's definitely a done deal, and that the contracts have all been signed, with all the "i"s dotted and the "t"s crossed."

The site elaborated, "a few details that are still being negotiated which she couldn't get into. But since she did tell me that the film starts shooting in April, it's highly unlikely that talks are going to suddenly and horribly fall apart at this point, and the producers have to scramble to find a replacement at the very last minute."

We also learned that everyone's favorite Imp from "Game of Thrones," Peter Dinklage, joined the cast in an unconfirmed role. I would speculate that the casting news will simmer down soon because too many characters could become rather diluted.

The comic book storyline of "Days of Future Past" tells the tale of a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

This reply if for CMO175: Wow... I had to comment on your posting. The fact that you believe Batman vs. Superman would beat Captain America 3 strikes me as uninformed. Zack Snyder is a visual master... but his stories and pacing and color palate are truly lacking in the development process. Superman simply had no soul... the man and the movie. And the silly destruction of the city and the landscape IS out of character with what Superman is. How many people died as Superman himself crashed through buildings and caused explosions throughout the movie? Superman would NEVER allow that to happen, but Zack Snyder and his writer would... and did. And it was a boring, stupid mess. And he WILL bring that soulless idiocy to Batman vs. Superman. Captain America, on the other hand? Winter Soldier is the most exciting super hero movie since The Dark Knight. And I, a 55 year old long time comic book universe fan, WILL be in line for Captain America 3! I will have to be convinced -- a LOT -- to turn around and spend my money, and time, in a Zack Snyder Batman vs. Superman. Zack Snyder stole a bit of my soul -- and I hate him for it -- when he introduced zombies that can run down a car. If zombies existed, in a Zack Snyder universe, and they move FASTER than any human... then he has introduced a horror universe in which man has NO hope of survival! Mankind cannot survive in this universe where vicious zombies have the speed to overwhelm any human survival situation... and that vision kills the suspense in a zombie movie. Where is the hope? That does not exist in a Zack Snyder movie. That man is Sucker Punching all of us. I'm not taking it any more. There are too many other fan friendly directors of fantasy movies for me to follow. I only hope that Disney/Marvel will hire the same brother director team to direct Captain America 3. That will be a smart move, indeed. RLJ
