Rob Letterman to Helm GOOSEBUMPS

By AMC March 20, 2013

Any 80's baby like myself knows R.L. Stein's series of spooky children's novels known as "Goosebumps". The idea of a film adaptation has been tossed around for a while and now Rob Letterman ("Gulliver's Travels") is set to helm.

The project has been in development since 2008 and Darren Lemke ("Jack the Giant Slayer") was brought on to pen the screenplay. The series of novels sold over 300 million copies worldwide and dealt with a variety of different subject matters, while paying homage in a kid-friendly way to such horror classics as "Night of the Living Dead". No details on the story have been released yet.

Rob Letterman was known for his animated work on such films as "Shark Tale" and "Monsters Vs. Aliens" before he tackled his first live-action project with "Gulliver's Travels" in 2011, starring Jack Black.

It will be interesting to see what angle they take with "Goosebumps" and if the narration will trigger some nostalgia for those of us who read the series. Stay tuned for more details on this project.
