Warner Bros. has been trying to get the spy thriller adaptation "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." off the ground for some time now. Steven Soderbergh dropped out of the project but since 2011, Guy Ritchie has been signed on to helm. It's been rather quiet on this front from some time but now there has finally been some movement.
George Clooney was in talks to star when Soderbergh was still attached to helm. Now it is being reported that Tom Cruise is in negotiations to take the lead role of Napoleon Solo, that Robert Vaughn originally portrayed in the 1960s TV version.
Other actors that were tossed in the mix to star include Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Joel Kinnaman and Michael Fassbender. Rumor has it that Ritchie was also looking at Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, but it didn't pan out.
