TOMB RAIDER Film Reboot in the Works

By AMC March 29, 2013

The reboot of the Tomb Raider video game last month was received with rave reviews. It now comes as no surprise, that MGM has bought the rights to also reboot the film series. This will be in conjunction with GK Films, who previously acquired the "Tomb Raider" film rights in 2011 from the gaming publisher, Square Enix.

The film is aiming for a 2014 release and is said to be heading to production quickly. No casting news has been announced yet but we anticipate to hear updates on that front soon, given the ambitious release date.

The Tomb Raider franchise is one of the most recognized names in the gaming industry. The original Tomb Raider games have sold over 35 million game units worldwide. The rebooted game, which released on March 5th, introduces a younger 21-year-old version of the British archeologist Lara Croft.

But who will play the famed femme fatale this round? Angelina Jolie did a fantastic job at portraying Lara Croft in the first two films in the series, which grossed $432 million worldwide. Finding an actress who is both beautiful as well as a believable badass, is no simple task.

Who do you think should play Lara Croft this round? Let us know in the comments section below!

"Tomb Raider" will hit AMC Theatres on February 7th 2014.
