VERONICA MARS Movie Pending on Kickstarter Campaign

By AMC March 13, 2013

The television series "Veronica Mars" starring Kristen Bell, was amongst several fan favorites that sadly got cancelled, due to low ratings. Now it looks like Bell and crew, including creator Rob Thomas, have teamed up again to attempt to produce a feature-film.

The method? They launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $2 Million to fund the project. They need to reach that goal by April 12th but as of a few minutes ago, they already hit $1.3 Million, so they should hit that by the end of the day. Pretty wild.

The reactions seem to be mixed on this endeavor. Not whether or not the movie should happen, as clearly the audience is intact, judging by how quickly they are meeting their goal. The question seems to be focused rather on whether it's kosher or not for stars like Kristen Bell and established producers, to be able to launch a Kickstarter, when they could easily fund the project themselves.
