We're heard rumors of a "Dodgeball" sequel happening for some time, but now it looks like it may actually be happening as there's been some movement. The film was made on a $20 million budget and grossed more than $114 million domestically, so the desire for a sequel doesn't feel like a stretch.
The original focused on Vince Vaughn gathering a group of underdog dodgeball players, in an effort to beat Ben Stiller and his team, the neighboring gym that was taking over Vaughn's rundown gym slowly but surely.
Clay Tarver has been hired to pen the sequel script. Tarver's only produced credit to date is the 2001 thriller "Joy Ride", which he co-wrote with J.J. Abrams. The sequel is said to focus on Stiller and Vaughn, who must team up this time to fight a mutual threat.
Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films and Stuart Cornfeld with the help of Fox, will produce the film.
