Jake Gyllenhaal Joins NIGHTCRAWLER Alongside Rene Russo

By AMC April 29, 2013

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on for the crime drama "Nightcrawler", set to star alongside Rene Russo. Dan Gilroy wrote the screenplay and is also making his directorial debut with the film.

The story follows a reporter who gets lured into freelance crime journalism in Los Angeles. Gyllenhaal will play the reporter and it's unknown at this time what role Russo will play.

Dan's previous writing credits include such films as "Real Steel" starring Hugh Jackman, "Two For the Money" and "The Bourne Legacy", in which he co-wrote with his brother Tony.

The Gilroy brothers are producing the film together, in addition to Gyllenhaal, Michel Litvak, David Lancaster and Jennifer Fox.

I haven't seen Russo in a film for some time now and I think she's a very talented actress, so I look forward to seeing her share the screen with Gyllenhaal.
