Olga Kurylenko Joins VAMPIRE ACADEMY

By AMC May 1, 2013

Actress Olga Kurylenko ("Oblivion") has joined the cast of the book-to-film adaptation of "Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters". The film is being helmed by "Mean Girls" director Mark Waters, and Kurylenko will be playing Kirova, the Academy's headmistress.

"The Vampire Academy" is a coming-of-age, action-driven fantasy book series, from author Richelle Mead. Set in present day, the book exposes a hidden universe of vampires, half-humans, alchemy and magic, and the Academy that attempts to help them maintain their humanity. The story focuses on a 17 year-old girl named Rose Hathaway who is a dhampir, half human/half vampire.

Waters is directing from a screenplay penned by his brother Daniel Waters. The film also stars Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry, who will be portraying Rose and Lissa, who are best friends.

I haven't read the book series before but it certainly sounds like a mix between "Harry Potter", "Percy Jackson" and "Twilight". Something new and different!
