Release Date Set for DRACULA Starring Luke Evans

By AMC April 29, 2013

A release date of August 8th has been set for Universal Pictures' "Dracula". The film will star Luke Evans, as seen in "Immortals" and the upcoming "Fast and Furious 6", as the title character.

We discuss in the video below!

Helmed by Gary Shore and produced by Michael De Luca, the story was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. It's said to blend mythology present in Bram Stoker's classic "Dracula" novel, with the true story of Vlad the Impaler. Vlad was the historical figure whom the vampire was based on.

Here's the official plot of the film:

"The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire."

At one time, Alex Proyas was set to direct and Sam Worthington was locked in to star, but the project eventually fell apart due to budget issues, only to get back on its feet a couple years later.
