Seth MacFarlane Asked to Return as Oscar Host

By AMC April 20, 2013

I am pleased to report that writer/director/comedian Seth MacFarlane has been asked to return to host the 86th Annual Academy Awards next year. After hosting for the first time this last year, Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron offered the honor to him again.

According to sources, "After defending his performance, the producers reached out to Seth and invited him back to host the show again. He's not sure if he's going to do it, but he has to decide within the next couple of weeks."

While reviews on his hosting skills were mixed, as they generally are, I felt that MacFarlane brought a level of humor and charm that were great additions to the show. His musical numbers, brief skits and great timing, kept the show moving at a solid pace.

The ratings were up from last year pretty significantly, so perhaps MacFarlane is that bridge between the older and younger generations, that keep interest high.

Do you think MacFarlane should return to host the Oscars next year? Let us know in the comments section below!
