300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE and ALL YOU NEED IS KILL Release Dates Shift

By AMC May 11, 2013

To continue the box office shuffle from yesterday, when "21 Jump Street 2" moved into the abandoned "Jurassic Park IV" release date, there have now been a couple more big delays.

The sequel "300: Rise of an Empire" has moved back from its original August 2nd release date to March 7, 2014.This appears to be a strategic move and not due to conflicts or a call for reshoots. The film was slated to release against the Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington drama "2 Guns". Is this a sign of intimidation? Only time will tell if both films are critical or at least financial, successes.

The film "All You Need is Kill" starring Tom Cruise, has also moved back from its March release to June 6, 2014. The sci-fi flick is being helmed by Doug Liman and it is now being released against "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". While I've been very vocal about my own skepticism towards "TMNT", I'm sure it will still mak a lot of money. But fans do like Tom Cruise and sci-fi flicks usually draw a steady audience, so I'm sure that move was also strategic.

Are you disappointed by the delays? Let us know in the comments section below!

"300: Rise of an Empire" opens in AMC Theatres on March 7, 2014. "All You Need is Kill" will hit AMC Theatres on June 6, 2014.
