ANGRY BIRDS Movie Lands Writer

By AMC May 22, 2013

Were you waiting on pins and needles for more "Angry Birds" updates? Me neither, but they are coming for you regardless. A writer has been hired to pen the script, making the film look like it's actually going to happen. And it's a respectable choice, at that.

Emmy-Award winning Jon Vitti, known for such gems as "The Office" and "The Simpsons", has been hired to write the game-adapted film script. John Cohen ("Despicable Me"), Marvel executive David Maisel, and Catherine Winder are producing the project, so despite the silly subject matter, the film is definitely not lacking talent.

A release date has been set for July 1, 2016, so they are certainly not wasting any time to get the project moving along. It will be interesting to see how a proven talent like Vitti, can make the premise of birds knocking things over an engaging subject matter. Clearly it will make money and will make many kids happy, or Sony wouldn't be bringing out the big guns.
