Bradley Cooper has been in the news a lot lately. True to form, a new project has emerged starring Cooper, with legendary director Steven Spielberg at the helm.
The project is called "American Sniper", an adaptation of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle's autobiography. Kyle was given the title of "Devil of Ramadi" by the Iraqis and according to the source material, was thought to be the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. Cooper acquired the rights to the autobiography almost a year ago, with the intention to produce and star in it.
Spielberg seems like a great pick for the subject matter. Regardless of being one of the most well-respected directors in the business, Spielberg has tackled the World War I and II subject matters several times with "Lincoln", "War Horse" and other projects.
This story will focus on modern warfare, following Kyle's experiences with being a sniper in the Iraq War. Kyle's brave and crazy story was perhaps cemented even further when he was killed by a fellow solider at gun range earlier this year. It will be interesting to see how in depth Cooper and Spielberg choose to go into Kyle's backstory, and how they will showcase the eventual tragic fate of such a courageous soldier.
