I'm proud to give Natalie Portman and team an A+ for perseverance, in an effort to keep "Jane Got a Gun" moving ahead. The film looked like it was finally going to keep all its players intact, but now yet another big change has occurred.
Bradley Cooper, who came in to fill the role of the villain once Jude Law left, has now exited the picture. Taking it one step further, Law was of course set to play the antagonist when Joel Edgerton moved over to the role of the protagonist, after Michael Fassbender left the picture due to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" conflicts. Still with me? Ok good.
The picture must once again, fill the empty shoes of one of its main characters. The list of other potential villains now includes Tom Hiddleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tobey Maguire. Jake Gyllenhaal was apparently approached as well, but he passed on the project.
"Warrior" director Gavin O'Connor is still attached to helm, once Lynne Ramsay exited. Portman and Edgerton are still intact as far as we know, so hopefully they lock this last piece and can still forge ahead. We're rooting for your production curse to be lifted, Portman and team.
