It looks like we may have to wait longer than we had hoped for more prehistoric dinosaurs to hit the big-screen. News hit today that "Jurassic Park IV" has been put on hold. Some tweets surfaced earlier this morning stating such things as "JP4 on hold" and "Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4".

Despite those sad and defeated sounding tweets, the production released a statement giving us a bit more hope that it could just be delayed and not killed completely.

"According to our source, Jurassic Park 4 is still in production, just on a temporary hiatus while there is a "restructuring of the guard", if you will. Not to worry however, as we are told that Colin Trevorrow is still directing the film and adds that the film will deliver on an EPIC scale. It is this "EPIC" demand by the studio however, which has lead to the current situation. It seems Universal wants to pull out all the stops and go above and beyond what they had initially set their goals to be. This has lead to a number of disagreements between those working on the project and the Studio, which has resulted in an overhaul within the film's production crew. No specifics however."

If the above is true, it sounds like the issues have to do with the budget and the development crew. The script written by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa seems to be ok and director Colin Trevorrow is still attached.

We know that Universal has a lot riding on "Jurassic Park IV" but hopefully they can get it together sooner than later, since the release date is not too far away. I for one want to take another trip back to the magical island of "Jurassic Park".

"Jurassic Park IV" is still slated to hit on June 13th, 2014.
