Yesterday we reported that there were delays on the production of "Jurassic Park IV". It now comes as no surprise that the release date is being pushed. I'm personally all for it. I rather have them perfect the dino formula and take their time, than rush and fail a production of prehistoric proportions.
On the release date push, Universal Pictures issued the following statement:
"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park IV at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal's beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."
Sony Pictures has jumped on this opportunity, and has moved the street date back of "21 Jump Street 2", to now release on June 13th, 2014. The comedy sequel is currently the only film releasing on that date. This change also greatly benefits the Michael Bay-produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", which is now the only movie scheduled for a June 6th, 2014 release.
Frankly, Bay and team need all the help they can get for "TMNT". They have been backpedaling on previous statements, have had to defend themselves against some questionable casting choices and so on, so I'm sure they are more than pleased about this good luck.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are reprising their roles as Jenko and Schmidt, and Dave Franco is also returning as Eric Molson in "21 Jump Street 2".
