Triple threat Justin Timberlake is set to star in "Spinning Gold", a biopic of famous American music exec Neil Bogart. Timberlake previously tried his hand at acting in such roles as Sean Parker in "The Social Network" and a lead role in "In Time".

For those less familiar with music terminology, the title can be broken down as meaning 'spinning' records and 'gold' as classic pop choons of the 1970s. The screenplay was written by Timothy Scott Bogart, son of Neil Bogart, the title character Timberlake will be portraying. I really like that the son is involved in the project about his father. Makes it feel more intimate and like it will hopefully be more accurate as well.

On the project, Timberlake stated, "Neil Bogart was a fascinating individual whose vision, drive and passion brought us some of the most influential music of our time," says Timberlake. "I am proud to be part of this project to bring this incredible life story to the screen."

Other than Timberlake, no other casting news has been announced. It was reported in the press release however, that the music of the famous artists will be re-imagined by contemporary artists.

Here's the plot for the film:

"Bogart, a legendary music business entrepreneur, is credited with discovering, launching and nurturing the careers of a generation of music superstars during the 60’s and 70’s including Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight, KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer and The Village People among many others. Featuring some of the most iconic music of the era, SPINNING GOLD tells the rags-to-riches story of a poor kid from Brooklyn who went on to become the man who defined the pop music culture of his time. Neil Bogart died prematurely in 1982 at age 39."

Timberlake is well-respected as a talented musician and an all-around cool cat. While he hasn't really hit it big with his acting chops yet, perhaps this is the role he's been waiting for. The topic and subject matter will certainly allow him to really show his true colors, since music is such a huge part of his life and an energy and passion he knows very well.

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
