Tom Cruise Accepts a Fifth MISSION

After the success of "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol", which grossed $700 million on a $145 million budget, it comes as no surprise that a fifth installment in the franchise is on the way.

Paramount has locked a deal with Tom Cruise to reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. Cruise will also develop and produce, along with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot.

While no director or writer has been locked yet, Christopher McQuarrie's name has been tossed in the mix. Cruise and McQuarrie previously worked together on "Jack Reacher". The two films tonally as well as the main character, definitely share some similarities, so McQuarrie seems like a good fit.

There's no word yet on whether Paula Patton, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner will return, who shared the screen with Cruise on "Ghost Protocol".

I love spy thrillers and have always been a fan of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. I also really like Cruise in this role and look forward to seeing how this one shakes out. This message will self destruct in 10 seconds.

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
