Quicksilver to Appear in AVENGERS 2 and X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

By AMC May 24, 2013

Joss Whedon has been discussing for weeks how a superhero sibling team would be joining his upcoming "Avengers 2". He then kept teasing his audience, finally revealing that the duo would be none other than Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Fans of the comics found this interesting since the duo were Magneto from the X-Men's twins but also became members of the Avengers brought on by Iron Man, under Captain America's reign. The deal between Fox and Disney, since these characters are technically owned by both companies, is that when Disney uses the duo, they can make no reference to them being mutants or Magneto's children. The same goes in Fox's case, where they can make no reference to them being part of the Avengers.

This interesting situation became far more so when Bryan Singer turned to twitter to announce that Quicksilver would also be making an appearance in his upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and that Evan Peters would be playing him.

Singer stated, "Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."

On the Scarlet Witch front, it's been reported that actress Saoirse Ronan was the prototype for Marvel for their Scarlet Witch character. On portraying the superhero, Ronan stated the following:

"I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would. I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it's very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I'd love to be in it."

Naturally, every real fan is hoping Disney and Fox can work together for an awesome crossover film but that's not very likely. Did this just become a showdown? Is it possible Fox just added Quicksilver in an effort to not be outdone? Will Whedon decide to discard the duo for his sequel? Or will two different actors with omitted backstories exist, in two separate universes run by two different studios?

So many questions, so little time. We'll keep you posted as the exciting story develops.
