Benicio Del Toro Joins GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in a Major Role

By AMC June 5, 2013

Marvel has certainly been busy lining up some quality actors for their upcoming projects. The caliber of actors continues to raise and after the news of Glenn Close joining James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy", another big name has also joined the ranks. Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro is the newest edition.

It is currently unknown who Del Toro will be playing, but it would be hard to imagine they would hire an actor like him to purely voice Rocket Raccoon. All we know at the moment is that he is playing a lead character and that he signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel.

Could he be portraying another villain, perhaps Thanos? Only time will tell but adding talent to an already interesting cast, hardly seems like a bad move. The cast already boasts sci-fi goddess Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, David Bautista, Lee Pace, John C. Reilly and Close.

Do you think Del Toro is a good addition? Let us know in the comments section below!

"Guardians of the Galaxy" will hit AMC Theatres on August 1st, 2014.
