New Trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's ONLY GOD FORGIVES

A new trailer has been released for Nicolas Winding Refn's "Only God Forgives". The film stars Ryan Gosling, who is reuniting with Refn after the critically acclaimed and incredibly stylistic "Drive". The two made that homage of sorts to classic action films, and I couldn't be more excited to see them team up again.

This new trailer drives the concept of a classic revenge thriller home. Kristin Scott Thomas looks like she's going to shine as Gosling's mother, adopting a much darker role than we have perhaps ever seen her tackle before. One thing is for certain; this movie is definitely going to be a violent one. But not violent and gory for the sake of being so. The violence will be shown in an artistic and calculated fashion, as told intimately through Refn's lens.

Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
