Ryan Reynolds Departs HIGHLANDER Reboot

By AMC June 18, 2013

A "Highlander" reboot was in the works at Summit Entertainment for a while now, with Ryan Reynolds attached to star. Now it's being reported that Reynolds has exited the picture, forcing the studio to find another charismatic lead to portray Connor MacLeod.

Reynolds is not the only one involved who has exited the picture. Justin Lin ("Fast and Furious") was once locked in to helm but he left. Then "28 Days Later" director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was locked in to helm but he also left the film.

Now Summit needs to find a new director and a new star. As loved as he is in the industry, Reynolds leaving the picture may actually help them lock another director, since they would now have more of a say in who they want to work with in the leading role.
