We've heard the lingering news of "Dumb and Dumber To", the sequel to the classic Jeff Daniel and Jim Carrey comedy, happening for some time now. The dynamic duo both seemed game to reunite, the original creators were on board and the script was in progress. That is until now, as Warner Bros. has officially stopped the project from further development. Sad face.
Despite the proposed low budget of $30 million, it seems Warner Bros. isn't seeing enough of a return on their comedic investments these days. Their "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" only grossed $22 million domestically on a similar budget. Fox recently shared a similar experience when their "The Internship" only earned $17 million this past weekend. Apparently niche comedies are just not what they used to be anymore.
It's said that another studio may pick up the rights to the film and that five distributors currently have their eye on it. While them assuming the risk and picking up the rights doesn't seem incredibly likely, there is that small glimmer of hope that we will certainly hold onto. I personally would have loved to see Harry and Lloyd re-team for another adventure of ridiculous proportions.
