Joss Whedon Chats Why He's Introducing Ultron in his AVENGERS Sequel

By AMC July 30, 2013

There was a lot of fun news to come out of San Diego Comic Con that filled our fangirl and fanboy hearts with excitement. The two biggest being that Batman would appear in "Man of Steel 2" over at Warner Bros. and the second was Marvel confirming the title of their "Avengers" sequel. The film aptly named "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will introduce, you guessed it, the mega-villain Ultron. Joss Whedon recently shed some light on why he thought Ultron was the right villain to select for the next installment:

"I was pitching Ultron before I took the job on the first movie. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to do this, but for the second one, you should totally do Ultron.’ Because he’s been a thorn in their side as much as any other character over the years and particularly back in my history," said Whedon. "He was great. He’s somebody who can juice things up and he’s a real problem for the Avengers. That’s not always easy to find. It’s not like the Vulture is really going to give them a hard time for 20 minutes."

Speculation by many lead us to believe that the third film will introduce Thanos as the villain, but only time will tell. Either way, I have faith in Whedon because his love for this universe shines through, and I couldn't be more excited for the sequel.
