Mel Gibson as the Villain in EXPENDABLES 3?

Sly and team are full-speed ahead for another action-packed popcorn film, in the form of "Expendables 3". The casting updates have been steadily coming in and we will see some old and new faces for the franchise including Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and new cast members like Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich. Do we finally have our villain as well?

Sly recently turned to twitter to simply announce, "Mad Max vs Barney Ross". Barney Ross is of course Stallone's character in the film and Mad Max was made famous by Mel Gibson, so is he our mysterious bad guy? It will be quite the game of misdirection if this is not the case. Gibson's name was of course previously tossed in the mix to helm the picture, before "Red Hill" director Patrick Hughes locked the gig.

Despite a slew of bad press the last couple of years for some controversial comments he's made, I've always enjoyed Gibson as an actor. From "Braveheart" to "Lethal Weapon", "Maverick" and so many other classic films, Gibson has displayed both badass chops as well as the heart needed to be considered a diverse actor with range. I think a showdown between Stallone and him would be a fun sight to see indeed.

"Expendables 3" will hit AMC Theatres on August 15th, 2014.

I've got a Baby Ruth in my coat pocket somewhere... just waiting to eat it. Maybe I'll put in a blender on puree.

Admire bryan singer story telling, not easy if you introducing a large cast.. As someone who do not know anything about x-men lore or identify himself as superhero geek.. His x-men 2000 film grab my interest on the series.. Still remember that powerful opening scene, the nazi concentration camp.. really set the theme of the series.. Found some of the other superhero movies.. Too comical for my taste still,.. Will see this movie on the first day of opening..

    1) Daredevil was ten years ago, and its problems were the director and script writers' fault. 2) Maybe but look at James Bond and hell even Batman throughout the years, people will get over it. 3) I want to tell you to check out the Town and Hollywoodland to see him act well, but you'd seem too hell bent to ever change your mind.
