We've been talking about the wonderful Tom Hanks portraying Walt Disney in the upcoming "Saving Mr. Banks" for the last few weeks. You may not be as aware however, of the upcoming dramatic thriller he is starring in called "Captain Phillips". The film is helmed by Paul Greengrass, most known for other high-voltage films such as "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum".

The film is based on a true story and Hanks stars as Captain Richard Phillips. Phillips allowed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in 2009 in order to negotiate the safe passage of his crew. The film will make its premiere debut at the New York Film Festival, which is known for premiering incredible films, such as Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" last year.

You can check out the new images, posters and official synopsis below:

Captain Phillips is director Paul Greengrass’s multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. It is—through Greengrass’s distinctive lens—simultaneously a pulse-pounding thriller and a complex portrait of the myriad effects of globalization. The film focuses on the relationship between the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (two time Academy Award® winner Tom Hanks), and his Somali counterpart, Muse (Barkhad Abdi). Set on an incontrovertible collision course off the coast of Somalia, both men will find themselves paying the human toll for economic forces outside of their control. The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Greengrass, from a screenplay by Billy Ray and based upon the book, A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty. The film is produced by Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti, and Michael De Luca.

  • Matthew Kirk posted on First GODZILLA Trailer Released Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
