THE WIZARD OF OZ 75th Anniversary Trailer to Kick-Off One Week Run

By AMC July 2, 2013

The beloved classic "The Wizard of Oz" remains one of the most influential films in history. Capturing hearts and minds through a vestment of colorful and enchanting characters and the magical world of Oz, it remains a classic movie ingrained in the incredible world of cinema. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the amazing film, and to properly celebrate, the film is being released in IMAX 3D for a special one week period.

Victor Fleming's classic fantasy will be enhanced and upgraded to post-conversion 3D. I'm not usually a fan of gimmicky 3D films but this one should be a real treat. Especially the famous scene of the black and white to color transformation.

The beloved story of Oz got a reimagining treatment earlier this year with Sam Raimi's "Oz The Great and Powerful". James Franco starred as the titular character, and the story attempted to explain where the mysterious man-force known as Oz originated from. Aided by an all-star cast of Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis as the witches, the reviews were certainly mixed on the endeavor. But it did reintroduce us to a world we love so much, illuminated by vibrant colors and a rich universe that Raimi created.

To wet our appetites for the re-release, a trailer has been revealed for the upcoming film. You can check it out below!
