Who wouldn't like to see another "X-Files" adventure with Mulder and Scully? David Duchovny, who portrayed Agent Fox Mulder in the series, expressed interest in returning to the franchise just last year. He would be reuniting with his lovely co-star Gillian Anderson, who played Agent Dana Scully. While the last film "X-Files: I Want to Believe" fell short at the box office, Duchovny as well as series creator Chris Carter, are definitely still interested in a third installment.
While two of the big players are on board, they of course need to secure Anderson and it also still leaves one big component left to be locked; the studios' consent. According to Carter, "It's really up to 20th Century Fox, whether they have the will to do it".
On the approach, Carter states, "I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonization date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology."
Could the band also entail some new, interesting members? According to Carter, Simon Pegg could potentially be that addition. Carter stated, "Gillian [Anderson] worked with Simon Pegg on a movie [How To Lose Friends And Alienate People] and told me that he was a big fan. We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him. I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."
Pegg is a charming edition to most films, usually utilized as the dopey but lovable, comedic relief. Pegg can currently be seen in Edgar Wright's final installment of his Cornetto trilogy "The World's End", now playing at AMC Theatres.
