Jim Carrey as Carnage in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2?

Back in March, Jim Carrey was spotted on the set of Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". People wonderered if he was just friends with Webb or someone on the production, or if this meant he would appear in the film. An insider from the production confirmed that a major comedic actor had a minor role in the film, which again lead people to speculate if the said actor was Carrey.

Webb was filming scenes at the Ravencroft Institute insane asylum during the time Carrey was on set, so if he is indeed in the film, many believe he will play one of the inmates, Cletus Kasady. Kasady has an incredibly violent past and eventually become the villain, Carnage.

This news obviously makes us question Carrey's involvement, as he has taken a hard stance against violence by not promoting his "Kick-Ass 2" film. While the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" is only PG-13, he would still be portraying a very violent serial killer. Conflicting moral dilemma perhaps?

What do you think of Carrey as Carnage? Let us know in the comments section below!

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will hit AMC Theatres on May 2nd, 2014.

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
