The horror genre is one of the most popular, due to its unwavering support from its passionate and diehard fans. We (and I say we, because I'm one of them) are in search of yet another classic horror film to be inducted in our precious library. But sadly many horror films these days attempt but fail to leave much of an impression.

We of course all remember the first time we heard those dark forces call out for "Carol Anne" in Steven Spielberg's original "Poltergeist". A film that definitely deserves to be listed with other classics of its kind. Well my friends, the original film is getting a remake, whether you like it or not. I'm generally pretty skeptical when it comes to remakes because I prefer original ideas to be explored, opposed to studios trying to recapture the magic and nostalgia of a recycled one. That is, unless they can make the remake really something spectacular and bring something fresh to an already wonderful concept.

When I first heard of a "Poltergeist" remake I certainly wasn't too pleased. But with the most recent news of the incredible Sam Rockwell in talks to star in the film, alongside Rosemarie DeWitt who is already locked in as the female lead, my optimistic heart once again began to soar. Rockwell is one of my favorite actors and the characters he brings to life on the big-screen are nothing short of inspired, real and captivating. If Rockwell and DeWitt were to star in this remake, they have already set the bar pretty high in terms of locking talent.

The script was written by David Lindsay-Abaire ("Oz: The Great and Powerful") and the story will focus on the Bowen family and their battle against evil spirits when their daughter Madison is abducted by said forces. The plot is near identical to the original 1982 film but the family in that one was called the Freelings and the daughter's infamous name has been altered as well. Sam Raimi is producing and Gil Kenan is helming, known for his directorial credits on "City of Ember" and "Monster House".

With Raimi's involvement and the potential of Rockwell starring, you certainly have caught our attention. Will be interesting to see how this one shakes out. We'll keep you updated as new information becomes available.

I see one that's great enough to stand on his own in a flick and I see two generic Super Heroes below him played by descent actors that will suck of no fault of their own. DC Entertainment and Zack piss off Snyder have destroyed any chance of a good Superman flick. It's generic and badly delivered to screen. What a tragedy to finally get to see the big 3 on screen after all these years only to watch them in piss poor dark generic looking outfits and rewritten backgrounds. FAILURE! DC Entertainment needs to pull their heads out of their asses and give us something good besides Dark Knight and Batman. To my point GO MARVEL!!!!!! May we all be laughing at DC Comics in the end for playing this awful prank on the true fans.

Marvel has nothing to worry about. DC Entertainment has already killed Superman in this so called "Man of Steel" series of movies. Does anyone recall how the first one sucked? That movie in no way other then title had the tone of Superman. DC has shot themselves in the foot far before the release date against Marvel that knows how to build on charactors, respect them, and the fans. Before all this bull crap with revamping I was 100% behind DC Comics. They have proved one bad film over another that Batman is the only one in the JLA they can get right. This knockoff Superman is and was terrible! Wonder Woman will be just as bad or worse being that DC Comics likes to screw around with her origin and costume the most out of any DC charactor since creation. They simply just don't know what the heck they are doing or how to stay true to the roots of these heroes who have endured for 70 plus years. MOS2 may make it at the box office but mark my words it will not in any way be because it's a great flick. Just the hopefuls having to justify to themselves right and wrongs of the contents. It will suck! Line up for Captain America 3 and catch this flick in the red box.

I've got a Baby Ruth in my coat pocket somewhere... just waiting to eat it. Maybe I'll put in a blender on puree.
