The bar continues to be raised for the talent that Marvel and Disney have been able to lock for their Marvel Universe. That apparently even applies to vocal talents, as the sass,y gun-shooting raccoon known as Rocket Raccoon in "Guardians of the Galaxy", is going to be voiced by none other than Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper.
The reviews on this confirmation are rather mixed. Some feel that it is quite a poor decision to waste such a talent on mere vocal work. Others don't like it because they don't believe Cooper has enough of a cool and distinctive voice to make the character standout. On the other end of the spectrum, many feel that if Cooper wants to voice a badass raccoon with a gun, then let the man do it.
Director James Gunn leads the charge, creating the world for his Guardians, lead by Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot. Other impressive talents that round out the cast include Glenn Close, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Lee Pace, and Djimon Hounsou.
While Diesel arguably does have a much more memorable voice than Cooper, it's not hard to understand the appeal of a big ol' paycheck for a few days of vocal work. Not to mention, becoming a beloved character in an ever-expanding Universe.
