We aren't exactly surprised about this next piece of news, as it's been a pretty poorly guarded secret. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has officially been confirmed as Quicksilver in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron". While it may come as no surprise since it's been in the news for a couple of months now, we are still pleased about it nonetheless.
Taylor-Johnson is a great actor and has mastered the superhero genre with his work on the "Kick-Ass" films. He has also showed a deeper side of his emotional range in such films a Oliver Stone's "Savages" and "Anna Karenina".
Quicksilver is part of a twin duo with his sister Scarlet Witch. It's been reported that the very talented Elizabeth Olsen will portray Scarlet Witch. Aesthetically, this seems like a really solid pair up since the two do resemble each other. I always appreciate when productions get that part down.
The character of Quicksilver will also appear in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and will be portrayed by Evan Peters. Certainly an interesting development to have the same character in universes that are shared but that have to pretend not to be, due to rights.
