Charlie Hunnam Exits 50 SHADES OF GREY

By Amirose Eisenbach October 14, 2013

We reported just a month ago that the leads for the mommy-porn adaptation "50 Shades of Grey" were chosen. Charlie Hunnam from Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim" and "Son of Anarchy" fame was locked in to play Christian Grey opposite Dakota Johnson, who would be portraying Anastasia Steele. Now Hunnam has abruptly exited the picture.

Did Hunnam and his team think it would be a career killer or did he just decide this is not the kind of role he wants to explore? We'll never truly know what went down but it will be interesting to see who fills the empty spot.

E.L. James, the author of the book series, tweeted out, "I wish Charlie all the best. x". At the time being, Johnson is still set to play the female lead, unless she too departs but I would anticipate she stays put. Sam Taylor-Johnson is still attached to helm.

Who do you think should be the new Christian Grey? Let us know in the comments section below!
