Yes, it's true. Marvel is bringing a talking and shooting raccoon to the big-screen before D.C. brings us a Wonder Woman film. Rocket Raccoon will make his film debut with James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy", brought to life by the vocal talents of Bradley Cooper. But what approach is Gunn taking with such a difficult character?
Actor Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord in the film, sheds some light on the character. "You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature," said Pratt. "Rocket has been tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and there are all these elements to the character."
Rocket will be a combination of motion capture and CGI, just like Andy Serkis has so masterfully done with Golum and what Benedict Cumberbatch did with Smaug in "The Hobbit" sequel.
Pratt continued on the complex character, "You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, and hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role. I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon: it’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect."
Other incredible cast members of the picture include Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Vin Diesel as the walking and talking tree, Groot.
