Michael Fassbender is everywhere these days and that is just fine by me. He can next be seen as an evil slave owner in "12 Years a Slave" and soon as reprising his role as Magneto in "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Now it appears the actor will embrace his thespian roots for a "Macbeth" adaptation.
We reported a couple of months ago that Fassbender was set to play the complex ruler opposite miss Natalie Portman but Portman has since left the production. The lovely and talented Marion Cotillard has now filled the role and will star as Lady Macbeth.
The Weinstein Company is close to locking the rights in what has been a bidding war with Fox Searchlight to distribute the film. Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff have penned the screenplay, which is said to embrace a very visceral approach to the classic story we've seen countless renditions of.
Justin Kurzel ("Snowtown") has now been locked to helm the production, which is said to be targeting a 2015 release once everything is locked.
