Disney has done an incredible job at creating their Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing some of our favorite comic-book characters to life in a shared universe. Of course other iconic Marvel characters belong to other studios, such as the famed webbed superhero Spider-Man, who belongs to Sony Pictures.
We already had 3, well 2, pretty solid "Spider-Man" films prior from director Sam Raimi. Last year director Marc Webb rebooted the franchise and brought us "The Amazing Spider-Man" which starred Andrew Garfield as the titular character. The film was praised and was a huge financial success for the studio and we already got word that not two but three more installments are on the way.
Now it appears that Sony has even bigger plans for the character and they are going to give us a taste of his shared universe. According to Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal, "We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains."
Will these extended universe be in the form of solo spin-off films or just a bunch more installments added to the plans? Webb and team have already teased The Sinister 6 and hopefully we'll also see famed super-villain Venom back on the screen but this time not portrayed by Topher Grace. No offense Grace, but that was not the Venom we know and love.
