With every new photo, detail and the incredible teaser trailer that was revealed for Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past", our excitement continues to build. This looks like it's going to be the "X-Men" film we've all been waiting for. Don't let the fact that Singer is busy with post-production fool you that the work is done now, however. Singer just announced that he'll be tied up with the wonderful world of mutants a while longer.
Singer tweeted out to excited fans, "#X-Men #Apocalypse 2016!". Apocalypse as we know is one of the most famous X-Men villains in the comics. Is this less-than-subtle hint eluding to an upcoming "Age of Apocalypse" film perhaps or will Apocalypse just be making an appearance? A welcomed one, at that.
A release date for the upcoming project is already slated for May 27, 2016. That will mark almost two years to the month after "X-Men: Days of Future Past". The plot of "Age of Apocalypse" dealt with time travel and Professor X's son Legion, trying to kill magneto. So perhaps figuring out how these two films will fit together isn't that much of a stretch after all.
Singer may just be on as an executive producer or perhaps he'll be directing it again but we imagine we'll know more on that front soon. For a diehard X-Men fan like myself, I couldn't be more thrilled about this news. Finally we're taking over the world, one mutant at a time.
