Neil Burger's sci-fi adventure "Divergent", based on Veronica Roth's young adult book series, will hit theaters next March. Starring Shailene Woodley as the title character, the books deals with many social and political themes. Lionsgate also plans on releasing the full trilogy, with "Insurgent" being the next film and "Allegiant" closing out the installments. It appears that they will proceed without Burger for the next film however, as he will not be returning to the franchise.

No reasons were specified for the departure but not continuing with a franchise doesn't always spell out drama. It's possible he just didn't want to be tied to it for the next few years.

After the success of "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games" and new YA novels being adapted like "Vampire Academy", Lionsgate sure has high hopes for what this film and future franchise could bring them.

What do you make of Burger exiting the franchise? Let us know in the comments section below!

Really like the look of it! The trailer has a menacing and dark tone to it, as LEE pointed out. Hopefully this won't be another Die Hard 5 case, awesome trailer but terrible film. Godzilla looks so much like it's 60 year old predecessor. I did like the 1999 Godzilla, just because the actors were awesome and it was cool to see another take on a legendary creature, but this film looks so much darker, almost forbidden. Can't wait till the middle of May!!
