The wait is over guys, Paul Rudd is your new "Ant-Man". We heard months ago that both Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were being considered for the role. JGL being the ever-so-faithful fan favorite, told the internet there was no truth to that statement on his end. We didn't hear any denial from Rudd's camp however, so it makes sense that it turned out to be true.
Edgar Wright is set to direct the film and co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block"). Wright's witty and oddball humor, as seen in his "Cornetto Trilogy", is sure to add a fresh spin on the superhero genre. Especially for a character like Ant-Man.
We aren't sure yet if Rudd will be playing Scott Lang or Hank Pym, but Wright addressed the notion a few years ago. Wright stated, "The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both...Henry Pym and Scott Lang. So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60's, in sort of 'Tales to Astonish' mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang's story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him."
