Universal Officially Stops Production on FAST AND FURIOUS 7

The tragic passing of Paul Walker and the future of the "Fast and Furious" franchise has been the biggest story in the news this week. It's been a bit unclear how Universal Pictures was going to handle the production of the seventh installment from here on out, which is already well underway. Would they write his character out, start from scratch or explore another avenue? Now it appears we have a better understanding as to the next steps and Universal has released an announcement that filming has officially been stopped for the time being.

Here is their official statement:

"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers.   At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise. We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it.  Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."

Will this purely be a break in the production and the film will actually be finished using the content they have already shot? Or will they fully start from scratch, coming up with an exit strategy for Walker's character in the beginning of the film? Universal certainly has their work cut out for them and no matter what they do, it's not going to please all of the huge built-in audience of the franchise.

This decision leaves us to wonder if it's the best way to honor Walker and all the hard work and passion he has put into these films. A decision like this can't be taken lightly however, so it's good they are treating it delicately. Many very intelligent people as well as Walker's family are involved, so hopefully they decide on the best course of action in the end.

What do you make of this decision? Let us know in the comments section below!

Admire bryan singer story telling, not easy if you introducing a large cast.. As someone who do not know anything about x-men lore or identify himself as superhero geek.. His x-men 2000 film grab my interest on the series.. Still remember that powerful opening scene, the nazi concentration camp.. really set the theme of the series.. Found some of the other superhero movies.. Too comical for my taste still,.. Will see this movie on the first day of opening..

    1) Daredevil was ten years ago, and its problems were the director and script writers' fault. 2) Maybe but look at James Bond and hell even Batman throughout the years, people will get over it. 3) I want to tell you to check out the Town and Hollywoodland to see him act well, but you'd seem too hell bent to ever change your mind.
