After months of talking about "Superman Vs. Batman", fanboys around the globe were shocked and saddened to learn that the film was being pulled from its slated release date. Marvel wasted no time with this golden opening and moved Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" up into the vacated July 17, 2015 slot.
The "Man of Steel" sequel was reportedly delayed to "allow the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story." After Warner Bros. announced the postponement, they also stated that Joe Wright's "Pan" would release on the previously scheduled superhero date. The Paul Rudd-starring film just bumped up a mere two weeks from it's previously scheduled July 31st slot. Given the momentum that superhero films have these days, it would be incredibly surprising if "Ant-Man" didn't win the box office by a large margin that weekend.
The next question is what currently untitled Marvel film will be announced for the already occupied May 6, 2016 release date. Will Marvel decide to move out of that slot in order to not go up against the new "Superman Vs. Batman"? Or will they truly go head to head, Marvel Vs. D.C., for the first time? It should be a very interesting couple of months ahead.
