The lovely Elizabeth Banks is going to give her directorial chops a try and is going to step behind the lens for the first time to helm "Pitch Perfect 2". You better acs-believe it! She produced and had a small but fantastic role in the first film, so directing the sequel feels like a great fit for her first endeavor.

The original film took audiences by storm and was packed with terrific characters, witty dialogue and just the right amount of sass and crudeness. The film racked up an impressive $113 million on a $17 million budget, so murmurs of a sequel have been in development for a while now.

The wonderful stars of the film including Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick, are believed to be returning as well, despite nothing being official yet. What would an a cappella competition be without Fat Amy?

Banks has proven she is a multi-talented actress with range. She showcased her dramatic abilities in "People Like Us", her comedy as seen in "Zack and Miri Make A Porno", and a little bit of everything with her portrayal of the eccentric but lovable Effie Trinket in "The Hunger Games". She strikes me as the type of actress that will prove she has what it takes to direct and I can't wait to see her showcase that in this incredible sequel.

Are you glad Banks is directing the sequel? Let us know in the comments section below!

This reply if for CMO175: Wow... I had to comment on your posting. The fact that you believe Batman vs. Superman would beat Captain America 3 strikes me as uninformed. Zack Snyder is a visual master... but his stories and pacing and color palate are truly lacking in the development process. Superman simply had no soul... the man and the movie. And the silly destruction of the city and the landscape IS out of character with what Superman is. How many people died as Superman himself crashed through buildings and caused explosions throughout the movie? Superman would NEVER allow that to happen, but Zack Snyder and his writer would... and did. And it was a boring, stupid mess. And he WILL bring that soulless idiocy to Batman vs. Superman. Captain America, on the other hand? Winter Soldier is the most exciting super hero movie since The Dark Knight. And I, a 55 year old long time comic book universe fan, WILL be in line for Captain America 3! I will have to be convinced -- a LOT -- to turn around and spend my money, and time, in a Zack Snyder Batman vs. Superman. Zack Snyder stole a bit of my soul -- and I hate him for it -- when he introduced zombies that can run down a car. If zombies existed, in a Zack Snyder universe, and they move FASTER than any human... then he has introduced a horror universe in which man has NO hope of survival! Mankind cannot survive in this universe where vicious zombies have the speed to overwhelm any human survival situation... and that vision kills the suspense in a zombie movie. Where is the hope? That does not exist in a Zack Snyder movie. That man is Sucker Punching all of us. I'm not taking it any more. There are too many other fan friendly directors of fantasy movies for me to follow. I only hope that Disney/Marvel will hire the same brother director team to direct Captain America 3. That will be a smart move, indeed. RLJ
