Jack Black and James Marsden teaming up would initially sound like an odd couple for a comedy. That is until Marsden has proven he has comedic chops, as seen in his role in the "30 Rock" TV series and recently in "Anchorman 2". The two are now set to star in "D-Train", which was written by longtime Black collaborator Mike White.
White wrote "School of Rock" and "Nacho Libre", which starred Black, so they have certainly proven they work well on comedic projects together. In addition to producing, White will also play a role in the film.
The story is describes as follows, "D-Train centers on a Middle America high school reunion committee chairman (Black), still searching for high school acceptance, who has to do whatever it takes, including flying to Los Angeles to penetrate the world of celebrities, to get the most popular guy from high school — now a failed actor working in commercials (Marsden) — to show up to their 20-year reunion."
Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who penned "Yes Man", are stepping behind the lens to direct this one. It certainly seems like a fun premise and I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
