The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in the news a lot lately. Following a bunch of trilogy announcements and the confirmation that events in "Captain America: The Winter Solider" will lead directly into the "Avengers: Age of Ultron", we now have another big casting announcement. Paul Bettany is set to play Vision in Joss Whedon's sequel.
Bettany is no stranger to the MCU. He has voiced Robert Downey Jr.'s loyal A.I. companion Jarvis in all the "Iron Man" films, as well as the first "Avengers" film.
We learned many months ago that Hank Pym would not be the creator of Ultron like he was in the comics, but rather Tony Stark would be in some capacity. This fits in nicely with this new confirmation, as The Vision was originally built by Ultron to be one of his enforcers, but then eventually turned on his creator, and joined the Avengers.
The Scarlet Witch, which will be played by Elizabeth Olsen in the upcoming film, was married to Vision in the comics. It's presumed this storyline will also occur in the film, although it hasn't been confirmed yet. Regardless, Bettany is a fantastic actor and the character of Vision is a great character. I'm glad both of them will be in the upcoming film.
