Writer/director Jonathan Levine is on quite a hot stream. His most recent zombie film with a twist "Warm Bodies", starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer, was very clever and was met with warm reviews. He has a knack for dealing with some serious content, like in "50/50" which focused on cancer, but delivering it in a tangible and inviting way to the audience. That film starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen, who had great chemistry on the big-screen. Now the three are re-teaming for a different kind of film; a Christmas film, to be exact.
Levine has certainly dabbled with a variety of genres and this would add a new one to his resume. There is no official title for the film yet but the story is said to revolve on two-thirds of a trio of friends (Rogen and Gordon-Levitt), who have a tradition on getting together in New York City for a night out on Christmas Eve.
Rogen will help produce the film, alongside his longtime partner Evan Goldberg. The two made their directorial debut with the hilarious comedy "This is the End", which also starred James Franco, Jonah Hill and a slew of other celebrities posing as themselves. I saw that in theaters three times and laughed hysterically every time. Sony won the rights to distribute the new Levine "Untitled Xmas Comedy", in addition to having distributed "This is the End" and the upcoming Rogen/Goldberg comedy "The Interview".
Few other details have been revealed for the project at this time, but we'll keep you posted as the story develops.
