April cannot come soon enough for fans of "Game of Thrones", when the fourth season returns to its hungry audience. Series creator George R.R. Martin recently spoke out about potentially bringing the current HBO series to the big-screen in a feature film.
On the notion, Martin stated, "It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."
While the idea of a "GOT" movie is obviously an exciting one, Martin should really focus on fishing the book series first, then worry about the fate of it on the big-screen. To date, there are five Game of Thrones books and fans are impatiently waiting for him to complete a sixth book so they know the fate of their beloved characters, who never seem to be out of harm's way.
No question, a rich and complex world like Martin created, would translate beautifully into a a movie. The sets, costumes, characters and so on, are incredibly layered and memorable, and HBO has already done a great job and making it feel very grand and epic. But please stop teasing your fans Martin, you have some writing to do.
