Disney Says They Are "Struggling With" Opening Against BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

By Amirose Eisenbach April 23, 2014

Ever since the showdown began when the announcement of "Batman Vs. Superman" opening up against "Captain America 3" hit, the film community has been watching the situation very closely. Would the game of chicken end with either studio moving off the date?

Warner Bros. said that while it's not logical to open two huge superhero films against each other, that they had no intention on vacating the date at this time. Marvel President Kevin Feige also stated they had no plan on pushing. They had previously announced an unspecified Marvel title for that spot months before, then "Captain America 3" was revealed to occupy it. Well now Disney chairman Alan Horn, has something else to say on the matter.

"We'll see. We're struggling with it," Horn said, in response to being asked about how the situation. Of course fans jump to conclusions but this really doesn't reveal a ton, at this point.

Both properties suffer by opening against each other. Naturally, true fanboys and gals will see both on opening weekend. But to the families and mildly interested parties who would pick only one, which one would they pick?

Marvel's track record has been incredible to date and they certainly don't have anything to fear. Their latest, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", has set new April records and was met with exceptional reviews.

Despite the successful "Dark Knight Trilogy" and "Man of Steel", Warner Bros. still has a lot more to prove at this point. Following the controversial casting decisions and previously pushed back release date of the sequel, it may look worse for WB to move than for Marvel to. They still have to win the trust of fans wanting to know their plans to extend the universe and to do the original content justice.

Both studios have admitted how the situation is less-than-ideal, but only time will tell how this one unfolds. I for one am certainly excited to see how it does. I personally don't care who moves, as long as I get both films, and soon.
