Major Female Role Left to Cast in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

By Amirose Eisenbach May 1, 2014

Following the huge cast reveal yesterday for J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII", we now have another fun little tidbit pertaining to our favorite galaxy far, far away. Reportedly there is still one major female role that Abrams and team have left to fill.

Besides Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) of course, and a few other female characters, the cast for "Star Wars" has been comprised of mostly men. It would be incredibly cool to have a female antagonist, a Sith Lord perhaps. But I won't get too far ahead of myself.

Out of the new cast additions, the only new female added to the mix was TV star Daisy Ridley. Fisher has thankfully been confirmed to return as well. From the black and white photo that was released and the way the actors were arranged, many speculate that Ridley will be portraying Han (Harrison Ford) and Leia's daughter.

Recent Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o has been rumored to be up for a role in this universe. Could she be the final missing piece of this exciting puzzle?

May 4th is just around the corner, also known as Star Wars day. True to tradition, the production will have to reveal something big on that holy day for Star Wars fans. Could it be more casting announcements, plot details perhaps? Only time will tell but I'm just happy they are finally starting to reveal the goods. We have certainly been waiting patiently with bated breath.
