MRS. DOUBTFIRE 2 in Development

By Amirose Eisenbach April 18, 2014

Were you waiting with bated breathe to see Robin Williams dress up in grandmother drag again? If so, you're in luck, as a "Mrs. Doubtfire 2" is officially back in development.

Williams is returning as well as original helmer Chris Columbus. The first film made an impressive $219 million domestically and $222 million overseas. It certainly helped propel Williams into a new level of comedy and drama and I don't know anyone from my generation that didn't find the movie charming. But are we really in need of a sequel. this late in the game especially? Apparently the studio is in the camp that believes yes, we do.

David Berenbaum has been hired to pen the script, best known for such credits as "Elf", "The Haunted Mansion and "The Spiderwick Chronicles". No details have emerged on the script yet but it will be interesting to see where they take it, since Williams revealed himself to the family as dressing up as the character in the end of the first film.
